We went last Tuesday for a first trimester screening for down syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities. I received the call yesterday that all test results came back negative. We weren't worried because neither of us have any history and are both healthy. But it is nice to hear good news. The best part of this process was getting to watch our baby kick and move around while the ultrasound technician measured the back of the neck and nose. They officially call this test a Nuchal Translucency Screening (or NT). Our first ultrasound was at 5.5 weeks and the baby was litterally a dot on the screen (with a heartbeat, which was just unbelievable). But at 12 weeks we could see legs and arms and a head. It was really exciting. And probably the first moment I was like "Wow there's a baby growing inside of me!" We got an awesome profile pic of the little one too. Since then, I've felt much better and been less tired. I like the 2nd trimester so much better. We go again in a week for a normal 4 week check up. I'll continue to post info and pics as the weeks pass by. We are super excited to be parents (by that I mean scared out of our minds...lol) but we welcome the challenge. Thanks for all your love and support. Check back often...
